The Dumbing Down of Us All

I suspect that this will be one of a long series, but someone has gotta say it. We continue to become a nation of dummies. No, I'm not talking about the Big Stuff - war, religion, taxes and education - but something really trivial.

Marching band programs.

I went to the first of several upcoming Pie Nights today, and encountered another example of an Ongoing Trend. Damnable Music Selections by the Band Director. I don't know when this trend started - or why - but high school bands seem to be a dumping ground for elevator music arrangers. Friday night has become the Outlet Mall for mostly mediocre music from years gone by arranged for horns and drums.

That's right folks, McDonalds is charging $19.08 a dozen for scrambled eggs. I don't think the Bellagio could beat that.

Could someone explain Baseball to me?

Or to be specific the Pittsburgh Pirates. I'm not an expert, and I barely know enough to have an opinion, but when will the Pirates stop rebuilding and finish construction? My theory for sucess? Simple. Take the pink areas shown above and close them. Add anything in the outfield to the For Rent section.
Then the big move. Fire the Pirate roster, move in the Wild Things and call PNC park what it is: The Best Minor League Ball Park in America.
